Chapter I. Name and Object
  Article 1.

This Society shall be known as the PAN-KOREA ENGLISH TEACHERS ASSOCIATION.

  Article 2. Its purpose shall be the advancement of the field of English Teaching and the scientific study of language.
  Article 3.

The location of the PKETA office shall be decided by the President.

   

 

  Chapter ¥±. Membership
  Article 1.

Regular membership shall be open to any person who are interested in language teaching and acquisition by payment of dues.

  Article 2.

Each member shall pay to the Treasurer an annual fee as dues in an amount fixed by vote of the PKETA Executive Committee.

  Article 3. If the annual dues are not received within the time prescribed, the member shall forfeit the rights of membership (as hereafter specified) until payment is received; these rights shall be restored upon the payment of all arrears.
   



  Chapter ¥². Officers and Committees
  Article 1.

The elected officers shall be a President, Vice Presidents, a Secretary General, and a Treasurer.

  Article 2.

The President shall take office at the conclusion of the Annual Meeting and shall serve for two years. The President shall preside at the meetings of PKETA and the Executive Committee and shall appoint the Nominating and Program Committees and such other non-elective committees as may be required. The President may invite appropriate individuals to attend and participate at the Executive Committee without vote.

  Article 3.

The Vice Presidents shall serve for two years and shall perform the functions of the President in the latter's absence.

  Article 4.

The Executive Committee consists of the Secretary General, Treasurer, Editors, and Coordinators of Academic Affairs, Public Relations, International Affairs, and Research.

  Article 5.

The responsibilities of the Secretary and Treasurer shall include keeping the records of the deliberations of the Association and the Executive Committee, presenting an annual report to PKETA which shall be published by PKETA, supervising publications of PKETA which are not the responsibility of the Editor, and such functions as may be assigned by the President and the Executive Committee.

  Article6.

The Academic Committee shall carry out those activities prescribed in Article 2, Chapter 1 of the PKETA Constitution.

  Article 7.

The Editorial Committee shall review and recommend articles for publication in the PKETA journal and newsletter.

  Article 8.

The International Cooperation Committee will be in charge of enhancing the international status of the Association through communications with other international associations and with internationally reputed scholars.

  Article9. The Advisory Committee, comprised of former presidents, would advise on the important issues of the Association.
     
  Chapter ¥³. Editorial Committee
  Article 1.

The chair of Editorial Committee shall be selected from among the Vice Presidents.

  Article 2.

The Editor shall be elected for one year and shall be responsible for the editorial content and format of the English Language Teaching journal. The Editor, in consultation with the Executive Committee, may appoint Associate Editors. Approval of expenditures in connection with the publication of the journal is the responsibility of the Secretary-General.

   


  Chapter V. Meetings
  Article 1.

There shall be an Annual Meeting of PKETA at such time and place as shall be determined by the Executive Committee. A quorum shall consist of those present at the Annual Meeting.

  Article 2.

The Executive Committee may call special meetings of PKETA.

     
  Chapter ¥µ. Fiscal Policy
  Article 1.

All funds of PKETA not required for current expenditures shall be invested on the advice of an investment counselor named by the Executive Committee. There shall be an annual outside audit performed by a Certified Public Accountant.

  Article 2.

Each Fiscal Year begins November 16 and ends November 15th the next year.

     
  Chapter ¥¶. Amendments
  Article 1.

Any proposed amendments to this constitution must be submitted by the Secretary and Treasurer in writing, and signed by at least ten members of PKETA. This will be submitted to the members at the time of the regular election for officers. An amendment must have the approval of two-thirds of the members voting.
